29 September 2016

FSAA professor is the first Canadian woman to receive the honour

Julie Jean, a professor in the Department of Food Sciences, has received the prestigious Elmer Marth Educator Award awarded by the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP). The award recognizes Ms. Jean's exceptional dedication and contributions to university teaching. The quality and extent of her work, both in teaching and in her research in the field of food virology, did not go unnoticed by the selection committee. The professor is also active in advancing food safety through her involvement in professional associations and her initiatives to bring together government, industry and academia in a joint effort.  Ms. Jean received this honour in July during the IAFP's annual conference banquet, held in St. Louis in the United States. More than 3,400 professionals from around the world who are active in the food safety sector attended the conference. In its thirty years of existence, it is the first time that a female Canadian professor has received the award.
Congratulations!
